[aesop_content color=”#000000″ background=”#ffffff” columns=”1″ position=”none” imgrepeat=”no-repeat” floaterposition=”left” floaterdirection=”up”]This section of the Great North Walk starts with views at Heaton Lookout in Heaton State Forest and leads to the picnic area and motel at Heaton Gap. The first section of this walk follows the dirt road to a communications tower, before passing another lookout with expansive valley views. From here it starts the steep descent along a rocky track, passing a grove of grasstrees. It then follows a grassy trail and powerlines before a last narrow track leads down and across the road at Heaton Gap.
